They are built rather than born: new citizens come out of a construction queue, and the grid feeds them instead of a farm.

Playing them

Machines that outlived the hands that made them. They eat nothing, live anywhere and never riot — but every one of them has to be built, out of the same minerals and the same hours as a reactor. Because every citizen is built rather than grown, their population is a construction problem: it costs minerals and time, and it never starves. It also never grows on its own while you look away.

The opening move for any people is the same in shape and different in detail: find out what your ground actually yields, put your trained hands where they are worth most, and do not let the grid run short. Everything in the guide applies to all six.
